I am unabashedly pleased to recommend Beth Beasley as a creative team player for any work involving words. She has awards, experience, and most important, the fire to bring a story to life. Beth is the real deal, old school, relevant editor. AND she is reliable. I would say she is a word doula!

It’s one thing to write a book, to accomplish something that is important to you or to do something truly unusual, something that was not so easy to do. It’s another thing entirely to have that accomplishment met by someone who listens with an open heart, a clear mind, a great sense of nuance and who then renders all that into something worth reading! Such a person is rare these days. Such a person is Beth.

As a first-time author, I had serious thoughts about the viability of my book. Beth was one of the first who took an interest and encouraged me to not give up. As my project evolved, she patiently and expertly guided me. Her skillful corrections, edits, and suggestions helped shape my book into one I am proud of.

About Beth

I’m sometimes surprised at how passionate I am about writing and the editorial process. During my 16 years as a journalist I sharpened my writing skills under pressing deadlines to gain a reader-focused approach to many hundreds of newspaper and magazine stories. I’ve worked as a community correspondent, award-winning feature writer, beat reporter, and features editor. Over the past decade, my editing and interviewing skills have also helped me guide aspiring authors as they shaped their books.

Now, with my Nonfiction Book Coach certification from Author Accelerator, I'm loving assisting authors with an expanded skill set that includes more aspects of the messy but exhilarating process behind the incredible journey of crafting a book.

Like many who’ve worked in journalism, that’s not where my career started. After getting a B.A. in Art History from Mills College in Oakland, California, I worked for six years in San Francisco in contemporary art galleries and for the San Francisco Art Dealers Association. I also lived in Ireland for a while, selling scones and tea at a pier-side canteen. I’m originally from San Diego but have lived in the Asheville, North Carolina area for about 20 years. I have two grown sons and enjoy painting [see more art here]. Of lesser significance but still of importance to me, I’ve been a lifelong fan of frogs.
